Praise Assembly of God - Garrettsville, Ohio

We're Family: Connect, Grow and Serve with us!

God - not man - determines the purpose of the church.

That's why we are want to do GREAT things.

Jesus said two things that should impact everyone of us. Put simply Jesus wants us to do

great things. All the law and the prophets Jesus summarized in two great commandments:

"'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your
mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your
        neighbor as yourself.'"

                                                                                                                         (Matthew 22:37-39 NIV)

This is God's expectation for how we relate to Him and to one another.

Jesus final words to His disciples are often called the great commission. He said,

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have
commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
                                                                                                                         (Matthew 28:19-20 ESV)

This is what God expects of us as His Church. Every church should do these great things.

Jesus said, "I will build my church" (Matthew 16:18 NIV) The book of Acts show us how Jesus

put together the Church in the lives of these first believers. One important lesson the New

Testament Church teaches us is that the Church is not a building. The Church is a community

of believers joined together in loving relationships. What we see is their common love for

God and love for the people in their lives; what we don't see is a church building.

Together with the help of the Holy Spirit these believers showed us how to "do

church." Acts 2:42-27 is a summary of how the New Testament Church did things. Churches

today that want to do great things for God should actively follow their pattern putting into

practice these five vital functions. Therefore, great churches are made up of people who:

       1. Worship God through prayer, praise and daily living. (Acts 2:42, 47)

       2. Enjoy fellowship with each other. (Acts 2:42, 46)

       3. Grow through discipleship in their faith. (Acts 2:42, 43)

       4. Involve themselves in ministry meeting one another's needs. (Acts 2:44-45)

       5. Share their faith with others as witnesses of God's love. (Acts 2:47)

The New Testament Church did these great things for God. At Praise we want to follow

the pattern God showed us so that we too can do great things for God.

We communicate our purpose and desire to do great things in a simple way: We're

Family: Connect, Grow and Serve with us!
So want does that mean for us today and how

does it help us do great things for God? Here's a simple explanation:

At Praise "WE'RE FAMILY" is the foundation or center of everything we do. As

family we are learning to love God as our heavenly Father; daily giving ourselves to God

in worship is how we begin doing great things.

We CONNECT as brothers and sisters in Christ learning to be a loving family. We do

great things with joy and laughter by making time to fellowship together.

As children of God we GROW to maturity in Christ like children grow from infancy to

adulthood in all families. Spiritual growth or discipleship is how we learn to daily live

       our lives just like Jesus.

We SERVE each other by helping to meet each other's needs. As in all families we

must each learn to do our part; this is our place of ministry. Working together we can do
       great things for God.

The greatest thing we can do (making all heaven rejoice) is to invite others to join

God's forever family WITH US. Our witness or personal testimony of Christ's love in our

life is doing our part in world evangelism
