Pastor D. Greg Ebie
Meet our Pastor!
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven (Ecclesiastes 3:1 NIV). As a student at Evangel College I asked God to give me a sence of direction. His answer "In His Time." I would have never imagined all that would mean at the time.
Instead of following my plan to finish college and go directly into the ministry, God first took me through the "School of Hard Knocks." Over the next six years the Lord taught me some valuable life lessons I could not have learned any other way.
In the course of time God opened the door for me to complete my education at Malone College. As part of my course work I served as a ministry intern at Christian Life Center in Kent, Ohio. Upon graduation I was invited to serve as the Youth Pastor and later Assistant Pastor there. After nearly 6 years of ministry there God's timing brought a change in ministry as I was elected to serve as the Senior Pastor at Abundant Life First A/G in Toronto Ohio. Then 4 years later God brought another transition in ministry bringing us here to Praise Assembly of God. Since October 1998 I have been blessed to serve as the pastor of this great church family.
My best friend and partner in ministry is my wife Susie. The Bible says a good wife is hard to find and is worth more than diamonds (see Proverbs 31:10-11). God has blessed me with just such a woman in Susie; she has helped to make me the man I am today. I will always be indebted to her. We have been on a journey together sharing life's ups and downs since August 27, 1982.
Some might say our love for each other has truly overflowed in the lives of our five children: Chrysta, Gracie, Greg, Pearl and Mike. Each of our kids are a gift from God. When people find out how many kids we have they often respond, "You've got your hands full," but it is really just one handfull because there are just five of them! We have often said, "Love multiplies; it never divides." We have seen this to be true. The time and effort we have given to our kids over the years has brought us huge dividends of more love. You really can't outgive God.
As you might guess family is important to me. That's why Praise Assembly of God is more than just another church; we are family. Family comes first in everything we do.
Jesus said, "So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send out more workers for his fields" (Matthew 9:38 NLT). God has called me to REAP the harvest in His harvest fields. I seek to fulfill this purpose in the following ways:
Restore: With God's help I want to bring healing to the hurting and those who still carry the effect of sin within their lives. The believer has been given a new and abundant life; however, some Christians need to be set free from the chains of the past to live daily in the freedom Christ has given them. The non-Christian needs to be set free from the bondage of sin and death through Christ.
Educate: As a pastor I want to teach people the truths of God's word with practical application to their daily lives. The Great Commission tells us to teach obedience to the word of Christ; this can only be done through a lifetime commitment to discipleship.
Assist: I do not work in the harvest field alone. The pastor is to equip God's people for the work of the ministry; therefore I want to help believers discover and put to use their God-given gifts as they yield to the power of the Holy Spirit in a distinctively Pentecostal lifestyle.
Plant: A good farmer also prepares for the next harvest season. Not everyone is willing to come to Christ today and receive the gift of eternal life. I want to plant God's word that it might grow in their lives until it is ripe unto harvest, for God is not willing that any should perish.
